Because the victim does not believe in the attacker, they attack their belief in knowing, eroding confidence in belief.
To reinforce control in god or ancestor worshipping victims they give constant but unnecessary helpful commands to replace the victim's decision confidence from the self to the god or ancestor. Their purpose is to keep the victim unaware that the attacker is only a human by pretending to be a mythical existence or an ancestor. The less they believe in gods or ancestors the more these people are attacked with incomprehension.
The attacks may consist of: negative imagery with negative feelings that are linked to a feeling of certainty (constellation attack), sounds that may or may not have something to do with the listeners life, full dream hijacking, giving the sensation of pinching due to involuntary muscle spasms, nerve flares, live projection of things that others cannot see, subtly manipulating unaware animals for dramatic theater, or anything conceivable.
The relentless attacks cause immense distress to the victims, which they often express by impulsive venting, estranging them from help, further isolating the listener, which creates further opportunity by establishing desperation, loneliness, and unrelatability.
Modern science mistakes ghost possession for schizophrenia, corrupting science, and hiding evidence of the existence of ghosts.
